Currently serving as the department chair, Prof. Yeldan received his Ph.D. from University of Minnesota, USA, and joined the Department of Economics at Bilkent in 1988. A recent survey conducted by the European Economic Association ranked Prof. Yeldan among the most productive economists in the world as measured by the number of pages in Social Science Citation Index-listed journals. In 1994, he was a visiting scholar at the University of Minnesota where he taught Applied General Equilibrium Analysis. He later visited International Food Policy Research Institute, Washington, D.C. and worked as a research associate. Dr. Yeldan's recent work focuses on empirical, dynamic general equilibrium models of the Turkish economy, and applications of endogenous growth systems. He is a fellow of Economic Research Forum (ERF) and was a recipient of Young Scientist Award of Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) in 1998.
